weeeeeeeeeeellll.... yes and no, especially when it comes to connect to the recordings. Just visit https://www.rscds.org/get-involved/ceilidh-dancing/popular-ceilidh-dances?language=it  (which might be the BEST source). In one of the accordeons, it says that the Canadian Barn Dance is in 6/8, the "Highland Barn Dance" in 2/4. To me it is impossible to say if this stands correct for the recordings (are the "Highland" recordings 2/4, and the CBD versions 6/8)? If so, we shouldn't connect them really.
