This dance is not listed in the Table of Contents of the book “Flowing Reels and Proud Poussettes”, but presented “on the sly” in the introduction on page 16. The full text follows here.

“Canadian Corn Rigs” was introduced to me over 20 years ago as Canada’s adaptation of “Corn Rigs” (Book 4 No. 12), another two couple dance with its own very catchy tune which we hardly ever hear, more’s the pity. I cannot find any written reference for “Canadian Corn Rigs” and it is certainly not listed in Napier’s Index. So here it is:

Corn Rigs, you will recall, can be re-capped thus: “Down the back and up, figure of eight round twos, down the middle and up, poussette.”

Canadian Com Rigs goes like this:

"1–8 The 1st couple, followed by the 2nd couple (who dance up to start) dance down behind the sidelines for four bars, and then turn and dance back to places (2nd couple lead back and remain facing out at the end of bar 8).

9–16 The Lst and 2nd couples dance a double figure of 8 across the dance, the 1st couple crossing down to begin.

17–24 The lst and 2nd couples dance down the middle and up again. The 2nd couple lead down and the 1st couple lead back.

25–32 The l st and 2nd couples dance a poussette.

Danced six times through in a three couple set, this is a real fun dance to a super tune. Try it.
