Bruce Herbold devised “The Long and the Short of It” for the wedding of David Newitt (6’3”) and Heather MacKay (barely 5’ 1 ¼”). Despite their height mismatch, they are a perfect pair. Patti wrote the name tune in contemplation of how long the road can be to find that person who really feels like “home”.

Table rows with a green background denote recordings starting with one of the recommended tunes and the usual number of repetitions for the dance (4). A yellow background means a recording with one of the recommended tunes but a non-standard number of repetitions. Recordings with a red background use a different tune and possibly a non-standard number of repetitions.

Recordings whose titles are in italics are not explicitly linked to this dance but have been identified by the database based on the type, bar count, and recommended tune(s) of the dance.
