A more recent, local sighting tells the story of a ghost that allegedly haunts the ancestral home of my husband's people in the Jacob Shoemaker Home in the Village of Bridgeport (now part of Kitchener). She likes to sew and was reflected in an adjoining room through a corner dressing table mirror, busily snip-snipping with her scissors, then disappearing into the kitchen. The tenant was frozen to the spot as she watched fascinated for some time. Her daughter saw the same apparition sitting quietly in a corner of the attic, and on another occasion two gentlemen were startled to see her in the same spot. I took a picture in the attic, hoping to catch an image on film, as has sometimes happened, but was disappointed.
