The notes explain that “While he was at St. Andrews in July 1981, Herb Carl had a dream. Mary Stoker was teaching her class to dance “The New-Rigged Ship” on the deck of the Victory in Portsmouth Harbour. As usual, she was cracking her vhip and urging them to extra effort. Music for the dancing was supplied by a fiddler vho stood on the centre of the capstan while the class danced round him.”
