There are lots of dances, such as "The Reel of the Royal Scots', in which two dancers first set
with hands joined as in Double Triangles and then use the joined hands as the axis of a
tum. This dance explores what can happen if that turn is extended from half-way to threequarters
of the way around.

As for the title: Scottish country dances tend to be quite symmetric. When an imbalance
between left and right does crop up, though, right is almost invariably the winner. This
dance is one of left's rare victories. If all of the right turning in dances like ':Australian
Ladies" has twisted your ghillies around your feet, this dance will untwist them for you.

One of my favorite dance teachers introduced this dance as a left-handed person's response
to the intolerance and insensitivity of a right-handed culture. Feel free to spread that story
around - it makes a good introduction. But please don't give me any left-handed scissors,
as I am right-handed.

Table rows with a green background denote recordings starting with one of the recommended tunes and the usual number of repetitions for the dance (8). A yellow background means a recording with one of the recommended tunes but a non-standard number of repetitions. Recordings with a red background use a different tune and possibly a non-standard number of repetitions.

Recordings whose titles are in italics are not explicitly linked to this dance but have been identified by the database based on the type, bar count, and recommended tune(s) of the dance.
