Drewry's own notes:

During bars 1-28, 1st Lady dances similar figures to those danced by her partner but four bars later.

Miss Allie Anderson, of Edinburgh, prefers 1st couple to omit the setting, and turn by the right hands for four steps during bars 29-32. I have left the dance in the original version because the setting marks the end of the part where 1st lady is imitating her partner, after a four-bar interval, and because the setting gives the 1st couple a chance to orientate themselves before plunging into the last eight bars. Miss Anderson's version is however a pleasant optional variation.

This dance was written for Miss Margaret Brander and the members of the Carlisle and Border Branch Advanced Class. Miss Brander chose the title - the motto of Aberdeen - her native city. That was before I knew that I was coming to live in Abderdeen myself.

Tune: Bon Accord by Winifred M. Carrie (1st ans 2nd tunes; see the music sheets for this book). It is essential to use the correct tunes for this dance because the first 24 bars consist of two 12-bar phrases rather than three 8-bar ones.

SCDDB Editor's Note on [39-40]
In the first original text by Drewry (typed and then stenciled) 1c crosses RH on [39-40]. In the later printed versions (Bon Accord Book, and the later TAC reprint) 1c cross LH on [39-40]. It is not clear if Drewry changed his mind, or if this was an overlooked editing error. Crossing LH is now the official version, even if some consider Drewry's original RH choice to flow better.

Table rows with a green background denote recordings starting with one of the recommended tunes and the usual number of repetitions for the dance (8). A yellow background means a recording with one of the recommended tunes but a non-standard number of repetitions. Recordings with a red background use a different tune and possibly a non-standard number of repetitions.

Recordings whose titles are in italics are not explicitly linked to this dance but have been identified by the database based on the type, bar count, and recommended tune(s) of the dance.
