Dedicated to the fiddle players at Pinewoods, 1982, and devised for Ron’s tunes “Bert Gonnella’s Jig” and “Lizzie Duncan’s Fancy” by Evelyn M. E. Murray.
The Fiddler is, of course, Ron Gonnella. The musicians at Pinewoods Camp in Massachusetts, that year included Christine Anderson, Ron Gonnella, Colin Gordon, Barbara McOwen, Ed Pearlman, Ralph Thompson and John Turner. Pinewoods is the place where the Boston Branch of the Royal Scottish Country Dance Society holds its summer week and weekend sessions. To the deviser, Pinewoods is a beautiful place to enjoy the timeless musical and dancing heritage of Scotland without interference from the modern world; it means “time out”!
