SASSENACHS (Scottish term for an Englishman) Written for two ladies of the same English ancestry, Ruth V. Coates and Frances M. Whittaker Is this dance a Reel or Jig? The dance was first published in The Cameo Collection No.1 as a "40 bar Jig", with "Kingussie Flower" as suggested music, but that is a 40 bar REEL. The same month a new printing of the book names this dance as a Reel. It seems likely that "Jig" was a misprint that was corrected. For details read the extensive discussion on the "Strathspey List" on 26-27 September 2016.
Table rows with a green background denote recordings starting with one of the recommended tunes and the usual number of repetitions for the dance (8). A yellow background means a recording with one of the recommended tunes but a non-standard number of repetitions. Recordings with a red background use a different tune and possibly a non-standard number of repetitions.
