Preferred music: Iron Gray, by Peter White and his Scottish Dance Band. The lead tune is marked below as the favourite. The characteristic formation of this dance called "Set to corner and cast away" in SCDDB terminology or nowadays often addressed as "Best set in the hall formation" sometimes also as "Peter White formation", has first been introduced by Alec Hay in 1976 in this dance, <<ddd:Peter White>>, in Strathspey time. The formation next occurred in Ron Wallace's dance <<ddd:Aberdeen Hunt>>, another Strathspey. Seemingly, the formation experienced a lift-off after it had been included into the dance <<ddd:the best set in the hall>> by Helen Greenwood in 2003, this time in Jig time and published in RSCDS Book 46. Now there are more than 20 dances of all types (Strathspeys, Jigs, Reels and even a Medley) featuring this formation.
