At the ceilidh preceding the annual London Branch workshop in March of 1975, the Glenfinnan dancers demonstrated this dance, and announced a contest to name it. The winning entry, selected by the composer, was “The Maze”, suggested by the configuration of bars 17-32. In the published original instructions both text and diagrams have errors. The e-crib editors have received the corrections by a private e-mail from the deviser. The essential correction is that on bar 16 1c finish on OPPOSITE sides (2x.1x.3x). From that position, 1c dance the full pattern [17-30], finishing on [31-32] by dancing to meet their partner on the midline (1W above, 1M below) and facing 1/4 Right, ready for the RHA.
Table rows with a green background denote recordings starting with one of the recommended tunes and the usual number of repetitions for the dance (8). A yellow background means a recording with one of the recommended tunes but a non-standard number of repetitions. Recordings with a red background use a different tune and possibly a non-standard number of repetitions.
