When Vancouver was just a small settlement at the mouth of the Fraser
River, it was known as Gastown - named after a well-known local
character, Gassy Jack Deighton. The Vancouver Branch Demonstration Team
first performed this dance for Miss Jean Milligan's visit to Vancouver
in October, 1966.
