The notes say this dance is "named for the Chieftain of the Clan Gordon" and that "the tune was the march past of the Gordon Highlanders". The introduction to the book says all the dances it contains are reels and the title has "reel". However the tune given is a jig, though that seems unlikely to be used as a march.
