Dance devised by Peter Jamieson and Ruth MacInnes to celebrate the October 2021 house warming of “Ardbiel” a beautiful home built by Fiona MacDonald at Farley, near Beauly in Ross-Shire.
The movements in the dance represent some of the elements of the build.
Bars 1–8 represent the complex negotiations with Highland Council Planning and Building Control departments to gain planning permission and building warrant for the innovative design.
Bars 9–16 represent the extensive mixing of the natural lime based building materials.
Bars 17–24 represent the raising of the beautiful arches which define the shape of the house and support the roof.
Bars 25–32 represent the travails of finally getting the completion certificate. (We couldn’t think of any way to elegantly represent the breaking of the laptop…)
Bars 33–40 represent the gathering of friends for the house warming.
