Ovarian Cancer Appeal for Scottish Country Dancers

I have been suffering from ovarian cancer for the past 4 years. I’m at a point where I know I’m not winning the fight. As a keen Scottish Country Dancer I would like to make an impact, and so I have decided to start this appeal. It would be great if you could join in, do the dance that I have written in your group, and print out the leaflet I have prepared for your dancers (or read the info to them). Men do not need to feel left out. It could be someone close to them who is diagnosed with ovarian cancer. When I was first diagnosed, I did not have that information. It would have been helpful to me. In the leaflet you will also find information about the dance name. A special thanks to Stephan Vollmar and the Munich Scottish Association for trying the dance and creating the minicrib.

Why is the dance called “Between yews and willows”? The yew tree, which we all know is poisonous, specifically its bark, provides us with a chemotherapeutic agent for the treatment of ovarian cancer called Paclitaxel.
The willow tree is a symbol of hope, healing, the ability to let go of pain and suffering and the idea of standing tall.
