The name of the old street, Sugarhouse Wynd, recalls the 18th Century sugar-refining business in Dundee. The first manager in the Sugar House was a Mr Wiedemann, whose daughter Sarah - after moving to London - married a Mr Robert Browning. Their son was the poet of the same name.
