Incribed "for Lena Barclay of Aberdeen, formerly of Dumfries". From Drewry's notes: Devorgilla was the wife of John de Balliol, the founder of Balliol College, Oxford. She built the old footbridge across the Nith in Dumfries and, after her husband's death, she founded Sweetheart Abbey.
