A bit of background on Lord Brownlow and Berkhamsted. He owned the Ashridge estate not far from Berkhamsted. He had a waiting room at Berkhamsted railway station where the Berkhamsted club used to meet in the 1950s before they moved to Potten End Village Hall. From the dance description: Adelbert Wellington Cust, 3rd Earl Brownlow (1844-1921), inherited Ashridge House and the large estate and lived there with his wife Countess Adelaide Brownlow. By all accounts he also had his own Railway Waiting Room in which Berkhamsted Strathspey & Reel Club in the early days ofthe club met on Saturday nights to dance!
Table rows with a green background denote recordings starting with one of the recommended tunes and the usual number of repetitions for the dance (3). A yellow background means a recording with one of the recommended tunes but a non-standard number of repetitions. Recordings with a red background use a different tune and possibly a non-standard number of repetitions.
