Devised 5th July 2011. This came after teaching a class of 9 and 10 year old children, and wanting to write a dance which had elements of Noeline O’Connor’s “Kingston Flyer” and Tang’s “A Trip to Gatlinberg.” The young dancers were confused with progressions so I sought to write a simple dance for them. I use any reasonable 6 by 32 J, and for the class I used an unobtainable (and amazing) 6 by 32 recording of “Todlen Hame” recorded long ago by Jimmy Shand on a 45.
Table rows with a green background denote recordings starting with one of the recommended tunes and the usual number of repetitions for the dance (3). A yellow background means a recording with one of the recommended tunes but a non-standard number of repetitions. Recordings with a red background use a different tune and possibly a non-standard number of repetitions.
