The first permanent European settlement in Manhattan was named Nieuw-Amsterdam by the Dutch in 1625. The name was changed to New York in 1664, after the Duke of York.
Music Any good reel. A suitable recording is ‗On the Morning Tide‘, Many Happy Returns, Hanneke Cassel and Dave Wiesler, track 1.
The Celtic Cross progression is a new figure of progression introduced in my book 12 Scottish Country Dances (2009).
See Annex 1 for a note on the ‘Swing Corners’ figure. The original Swing Corners figure appears in Scotia Swing. I have modified the figure to fit this dance.
