I have recently acquired two Edinburgh Branch publications which both
contain a Strathspey - Castle Wynd - by Bob Grant - listed in the Strathspey
Database as a 2/4L shape.

The first publication is the Diamond Jubilee Dances 1984 book which lists
this dance as two couples dancing in a four couple set. This printing says
"When all four couples are dancing the middle couples should dance round
each other during the allemandes."

The second publication is Five Anniversary Dances in 1999 (75th). The same
dance is printed here and it states the dance is a Strathspey for three
couples. This printing says "When all are dancing couples should dance
round the couple they face (even in the next set) at the start of the
allemande."

The same music is printed in both publications.

Does anyone know if the dance was changed from a four couple set to a three
couple set or if it is an error in the second printing?

Table rows with a green background denote recordings starting with one of the recommended tunes and the usual number of repetitions for the dance (8). A yellow background means a recording with one of the recommended tunes but a non-standard number of repetitions. Recordings with a red background use a different tune and possibly a non-standard number of repetitions.

Recordings whose titles are in italics are not explicitly linked to this dance but have been identified by the database based on the type, bar count, and recommended tune(s) of the dance.
